Micro Niche Finder EOL (End of life) FAQ
Posted by Kevin Ragsdale on 19 October 2015 07:48 AM

There have been many questions since our recent announcement about Micro Niche Finder's end of support.  This FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) answers these questions.

Is Micro Niche Finder going to stop working on January 1, 2016?

No. Micro Niche Finder should continue to work for as long as you use the program. The Search Window may stop working, as it will no longer be updated. We have to frequently update the Search Window as Google makes changes on the AdWords Keyword Planner tool. The end-of-life announcement simply means we will no longer update the Search Window to accomodate new changes by Google.

If the Search Window stops working, and you do not update it, can I no longer use the program?

In the final release of Micro Niche Finder (Version 5.8.5), we added a new menu item to the ribbon Options menu: Import Keywords from AdWords. This new import will import the CSV files you can download from the AdWords Keyword Planner during a manual search on the Keyword Planner site. This is basically what the current Search Window in Micro Niche Finder does: it performs a search on the Keyword Planner, downloads the file, then imports it into Micro Niche Finder's data tables.

We know the Search Window will stop working at some point in the future, so we have added the capability to import in order to ensure Micro Niche Finder is still able to perform it's basic functions.

I bought Micro Niche Finder in 2011. Can I get a refund since you're no longer supporting it?

No. Micro Niche Finder has always had a 60-day, no questions asked, money back guarantee. We stopped selling new licenses for Micro Niche Finder on January 1, 2015. All refund windows were passed by March 2015. Please note that Micro Niche Finder has been upgraded and updated numerous times over the past 8 years - for free. All software reaches an end-of-life. Our decision to stop selling and supporting Micro Niche Finder is based on our decision to no longer create or support products that must "scrape" websites for data.

Are you going to release a new product that does what Micro Niche Finder does?

We have no plans to develop any future product that relies on "data scraping". Scraping is a violation of Terms of Use for practically every website on the internet, and the data required by an application like Micro Niche Finder is simply not available (via paid API or otherwise) without scraping.

Can you recommend a good replacement for Micro Niche Finder?

Our best recommendation is to use the Google AdWords Keyword Planner site to retrieve the data you need for keyword research.
